Non-profits: Do you even know why you’re collecting data?

I listened to a podcast on non-profit management this AM, as one does. The topic was exciting for me, “Data & Reporting.” OMG, MY FAVORITE. (I am aware that I need a life. Thank you for pointing that out.) The pod centered on a specific question from one write-in listener.

The question: “We have all these data systems across programs, development, and finance. They don’t talk together, and we spend several days each month putting together dashboards for the board. Are we reporting too much?”
